Darley Footbridge Parapet Upgrade: Darley Golf Course, Troon
As part of measures to extend the network of cycle tracks around Troon the existing footbridge over the Darley Burn was identified as a route to Marr College, however the existing metal parapets on the footbridge were too low and damaged to allow the footbridge to be used by cyclists.
Works to bring the parapets up to standard involved the removal of the existing parapets, and construction of new parapets in sandstone to match the existing stonework of the footbridge. 500mm high galvanized steel railings were fabricated and installed on top of the masonry parapets, and new pedestrian guardrails installed on the approach paths.
The works were completed in December 2011 at a cost of £6,184.
