Post Work

This project was carried out on an existing live substation as part of our framework contract with SPEN.

The work included demolition of an existing brick and steel structure building, site investigation boreholes and report, excavation, reinforced concrete bases, slabs and walls for transformer enclosures, open lay cable installation and ducting works, hard landscaping and demolition and removal of old transformers and

Works were carried out by our suitably authorised operatives for working within live substation environment.

There were difficulties with access restrictions on the site, with the main access for the works through the property of Napier University, which in turn meant particular emphasis on health and safety issues which could impact on the university such as noise and dust. We had to carry out works in conjunction with the universities permit to work system.

Further, a temporary access road had to be constructed to allow the larger and heavier plant to access the site and this was done in conjunction with the gas service provider due to a shallow gas pipe crossing the works.
