Ballantrae Old Bridge: Replacement of Barriers
The existing steel barriers on Ballantrae Old Bridge installed to prevent pedestrians crossing the unsafe bridge were ineffective, and were to be replaced with steel barriers incorporating locking gates allowing access for inspection.
Ballantrae Old Bridge is a Category B Listed Structure and all works had to be carried out in accordance with the Listed Building Consent granted by South Ayrshire Council.
Decorative steel barriers were fabricated, galvanized and powder coated to the client’s specification and installed at both approaches to the footbridge following the removal of the existing barriers. All works were carried out in a manner that avoided the need to attach any fixing to the stonework of the parapets.
The works were completed in September 2014 at a cost of £2,295.
